Yesterday I was looking at my save game files for Oblivion. Inside the expansion pack “Shivering Isles”, which I am currently finishing up now, I have put over 120 hours into it already. Inside the original game? Over 480 hours. I am pretty sure that most of that time is real and not just idling overnight or something.
I have some coworkers who play WoW, and this doesn’t phase them at all… their in-game numbers dwarf my ludicrous Oblivion time. Another good reason to avoid WoW like the plague.

Doesn’t hold a candle to the amount of time playing Civ2. I tend to measure that in *years*

johen: Keep in mind that I’ve only been playing these for less than a year, during which I also beat GTA IV and Drake’s Fortune.
Another difference is that Civ are replay-oriented games… what I’m talking about is one single pass through (two if you count the expansion)! Granted, I am playing extremely slowly and deliberately and trying to explore every inch and finish every quest. But still… it’s an enormous time investment. And still, nothing compared to what WoW players routinely do.
