Our crappy Cannon inkjet was on the fritz again so I figured SCREW THIS CRAP. I went to staples and found a decent Brother LaserJet that looked decent. But of course before you buy a printer you have to make sure you can get cheap ink/toner so I googled it first. Up came an ad from Amazon advertising the more advanced model Brother LaserJet for the same price.
$109 for a compact networkworkable laser printer? Woo!
Specs:
- 2,400 x 600 dpi resolution with laser print quality
- Up to 20 ppm black, first page out in under 10 seconds
- 250-sheet input capacity; supports a variety of sizes and envelopes
- Simple setup and operation; 16 MB standard memory
- Parallel, USB 2.0, and Ethernet interfaces; PC, Mac, and Linux compatible
Buying stuff is awesome.

Hey, that’s a pretty good deal. Can one upgrade the memory on it as well? Not that I would ever need to, but having the *option* is nice. Oooh, and a duplexer, that would be cool too!
Just like I got my fancy-schmancy onboard SCSI on my first computer so that I would have the *option* to buy stupidly expensive Seagate Cheetah drives for doing audio work. If I had gotten a PCI card, I would still be able to use it, instead of having retired that machine years ago. Now if only I had some old SCSI drives, I would set up a kickass serverthingamajig…

skippy: I have no idea if you could upgrade the memory on it. For $109 you could just buy another printer.
